Thank you for your interest in me! My name is Koen Rodenburg. I’m curious, quick-witted and a good listener. Since late 2021, I’m trying to be a great father to my daughter Ella, and since the spring of 2024 also to my son Hugo. And I have been a professional Software Engineer, Lead Developer and Project Lead for over a decade.
Career
I work at NCIM Group as a Principal Consultant, Project Lead and Lead Software Engineer. I am a mentor and coach to a group of around 10 colleagues. My responsibilities include their induction into the company, their career development, and their performance appraisals. In addition I am a member of the Management Team Operations, which leads the day-to-day operations of the company.
But mainly, I work on complex, large-scale projects for our clients in various capacities. The clients I have worked for range from Dutch government agencies and NATO to commercial parties in the logistics sector and the petrochemical industry. Check out my LinkedIn for my full employment history.
I am always looking for skilled Java, Python and .Net software engineers to join my team. So if you’re located in The Netherlands, check out this page for an impression of NCIM. Reach out to me if you also want to make an impact on society!
Education
Already as a child I was interested in a broad range of subjects. In school I was proficient in all subjects, ranging from languages and history to biology, chemistry and physics, and of course computer science.
Naturally, the Cognitive Artificial Intelligence programme at Utrecht University appealed to me immediately, because it combined the fields of computer science, neurobiology, logic, linguistics and philosophy. This was the ideal education for the generalist that I had the potential to be and that I have become today.
I obtained my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Cognitive Artificial Intelligence and wrote my Master’s thesis as a graduation intern at NCIM Group. This resulted in my publication Using information extraction and evolutionary algorithms to improve matchmaking on the labor market.
Blog
Over the years, I have gathered knowledge, experience and code snippets, and formed opinions about technology and software development. I started this blog to build up a reference of what I have been working on over the years, and to be able to share some of that with you. And if I am able to help even one developer along the way, then I have reached my goal.
